Check in/Check-out
You can check-in your room at 2:00 p.m.. When checking-in at the hotel reception you are provided with your Galo Resort Hotel Card. Please show your Hotel Card whenever required by hotel staff.

On departure day, rooms should be left by 12:00 a.m.. In the meantime, your luggage can be stored in the Reception of Hotel Galosol (dial 9)

Do not disturb Sign

If you put the “Do-not-disturb-sign” on the outside handle of your room door, housekeeping will comply. You will enjoy the extra rest, but your room will have to skip the room’s makeover. For safety purposes, we will have to check your room if the “Do-not-disturb-sign” sign is on your door for more than 24 hours.


Drugs, Illegal substances and weapons

Possession (or being under the influence) of illegal substances, drugs and weapons on the hotel premises will lead to immediate eviction. In such cases, the payment obligation for the agreed term of your stay will still apply.  The Hotel will notify the responsible authorities.

Emergency exits

In case of an emergency please contact the Reception immediately (dial 9). The Reception holds a comprehensive first aid kit should anybody need minor assistance.

Emergency exits: Each floor has an emergency door and staircase. In case of an emergency please notify the Reception (dial 9) and follow the emergency signs displayed in your room and in the hotel corridors. Should you notice an unattended fire, immediately break the Fire Alarm, which is located at the entrance of each floor. In case of fire, do not use the elevator, use the stairs instead, and go outside the hotel as quick as possible.

Use the emergency exit doors in case of emergency only. All emergency exit doors are monitored by CCTV and alarm systems.

Our Guest Relations will be pleased to further help or advice you on any matter related to the hotel, location, bus connections, Levada walks, tours or any other aspect that can make your holiday even more enjoyable. Galo Active Health Club

Our gym is located on the -3 floor. Please use a towel and wear a t-shirt. Our gym is monitored by CCTV. Please keep the gym clean and tidy. Use of the gym is at your own responsibility and risk. For safety reasons, children under the age of 16 are not allowed to access the training areas.

Indoor Pool

The indoor heated pool is located in Galo Active Health Club (level -3) of Galosol Hotel. The water temperature is between 27oC and 28oC. The indoor pool area also comprises of a large Jacuzzi and a separate sauna area equipped with different types of saunas and showers (Look under “S” –Sauna, for more information).

Key Card and entry

Your key card provides access to your room and public areas. Please do not forget to take your key card with you when you leave your room. If you lose your key, please notify our hotel reception staff immediately so we can block your lost key.

Some of our rooms are equipped with a private kitchenette that includes micro wave, stove and a sink.


Laundry

You will find a laundry bag inside your closet. Please be aware that this bag is intended for laundry service only. Should you require laundry or dry cleaning service, please fill out the respective laundry form, and put it together with the clothes in the Laundry bag, so that our Housekeeping can collect it.

Should you wish to receive your clothes on the same day, make sure that they are collected before 10:00 a.m. (dial 9 - Reception).

Towels

Towels in the Rooms

At Galo Resort Hotels the Environment is a primary concern. For this reason, we kindly ask our guests to place on the floor only the towels they wish to be changed. Housekeeping will then change the towels when cleaning the rooms.

Towels for Pool and Bathing Complex

At check-in you are given a Towel-Card which you can exchange for a towel for the pool area and Bathing complex, available at the reception Galosol and in the summer on the Terrace Ondamar (wooden house). Guests may change their Pool towel once a day. Towels can be exchanged and should be returned at the end of your stay, otherwise a fine will be charged.

Towels for Gym and Saunas

Towels for the use of the gym and saunas are available at the Reception of Galo Active or ASHOKA SPA, upon signature. Towels can be exchanged and should be returned at the end of your stay, otherwise, according our environmental policy a fine will be charged.


Security


Evacuation

An alarm will go off in the case of an emergency. When the alarm sounds we urge you to leave the hotel immediately via one of the emergency exits. The emergency exits are clearly marked by the green ‘EXIT’ signs and can be opened easily with a push bar. Please note that the lifts are not in use during an emergency situation – you will have to use the emergency stairs. The evacuation plan and a summary of our house rules can be found on the inside of your room door.

Only use Emergency exit doors in case of emergency. All emergency exit doors are monitored by CCTV and alarm systems.


Fire Alarm System

The smoke detectors/fire alarm systems are in place for the safety of everybody. Please note that the alarm will be triggered if the smoke detectors are disturbed. Anybody who manipulates the smoke detectors/ fire alarm systems in any way is violating the law and will be instructed to leave the hotel immediately. According to our Terms & Conditions, no money will be refunded when our guests are instructed to leave because of breaking the Hotel Rules. Additional costs will be charged (a.o. damage, fine by the fire department) and you might be prosecuted by law. Please understand that we need to be very strict on this.

Hotel safety

The following information is provided for your safety in the event of a fire. Please take a moment to get familiar with the locations of the fire extinguishers and the fire escape plans upon arrival at the hotel. Floor plans are located in the corridors near every emergency exit and on each room door. For your safety, the hotel is equipped with fire/smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, and fire hoses.

Their locations are indicated on the evacuation floor plans in your room and in the corridors. Our staff is trained to handle emergency situations. In the case of an emergency situation please always follow their instructions. Our staff is available on-site 24 hours per day and our premises are monitored by CCTV. Please contact our staff immediately if you notice any dangerous or suspicious situations.


If you detect smoke

  1. Alarm the reception during opening hours and/ or call 112

  2. Attempt to contain and extinguish the fire yourself if possible with the nearest fire extinguisher

  3. Leave the building via the stairs and emergency exits and meet at the parking


Violence

Any violence to our guests or staff will lead to your immediate eviction from the hotel and the police will be informed. According to our Terms & Conditions, no money will be refunded when our guests are instructed to leave because of breaking the Hotel Rules. 


Room equipment


Electricity

When you enter the room please put your key in the energy saver and leave it there. Now you have electricity. When you leave the room, pull out the key and take it with you. Electric plugs (for charging batteries, etc.) will keep working.

Power adapters are available on request at the Reception of Hotel Galosol (dial 9). The voltage in Galo Resort Hotels amounts to 220V.


Heating/Cooling System

The comfort rooms in the Hotel have a central controlled air-conditioning at their disposal. Due to a safety sensor, the air conditioning will not operate when windows and doors are not properly closed. Please contact the Reception (dial 9) in case you need any assistance.


TV Manual

To turn on the TV please use the remote control.

Guests can benefit from an interactive experience and internet access in the room. In the rooms, you can find 32 and 40 inches Full HD Led Smart TV’s, with smartbox system, that allows interactive HD contents and free Wi-Fi.

Safety Box

All Galo Resort Hotel rooms are equipped with a safety deposit box that guests can use to safeguard their valuables. Please contact the Reception (dial 9) if you wish to use the safety deposit box in your room. The Galo Resort Hotels Management can’t be held responsible for the loss or theft of personal property left unattended in the rooms. Valuables should be placed in the safety deposit box.


Key Card
All rooms at Galo Resort are based on a magnetic card system which enables our guests to securely open and close their doors, as well as, switch on the electricity in the room and secure the safety deposit box (please ask Reception to activate this option). In case the key is malfunctioning, please contact the Reception.


Mini Bar
All Galo Resort rooms are equipped with Minibar. All consumed Minibar items will be directly debited on your room bill. Please be aware that any attempt of payment fraud will not be tolerated.

Lido Galomar Bathing Complex

​This private bay, protected by the cliffs, offers a salt water pool, multiple accesses to the sea by stairs and solarium areas. It features changing rooms, sanitary facilities, lifeguard, sunbeds, snack bar, restaurant and a diving centre. Here you can dive directly from the complex into the underwater nature reserve of Garajau. Water activities available: Snorkeling gear rental and tours; kayake rental; diving courses and tours, water inflatable (Summer only).  

Lido Galomar Glamping Hut Experience 

This romantic eco-hut rental is the epitome of luxury.

Guests will enjoy access to a mobile phone during their stay, as well as provided towels and a lantern to illuminate the hut at night.
For privacy concerns, guests are advised that this property's sea platform is available to all guests, which is in front of the glamping hut. The sea platform is open from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm.

Transfer

Public Transport

The main bus stop in Caniço de Baixo is located in the parallel road above Reception Galosol, at about 3 minutes walking distance (100m). Timetables for the busses to Caniço and Funchal are available at the Reception and in your Galo Resort Hotel-Card. Bus tickets are directly purchased with the bus driver.

The easiest way to get to the hotel is by way of public transport. From FUNCHAL, take bus 155. Galo Resort is just down the crossroad. Check out the following website, to find your bus.
